Dental Restorations

Operative Dentistry

When a cavity has infiltrated itself into a tooth can be removed and the tooth can be cleaned.

If the cavity has remained within the tooth and has not made its way to the center of the tooth or the pulp chamber, the cavity can be removed and the tooth can be cleaned. Once the cavity is removed, the missing tooth structure is replaced and filled with a dental material to seal the tooth from bacteria. The materials utilized can range from white composite to white ceramic. The material choice is dependent on each case to provide the highest prognosis and longest survival.

Dental Cleaning

Hygiene and Prevention

A dental cleaning or prophylaxis utilizes specialized instruments to remove soft plaque or hard calculus from your teeth. Once the plaque on your teeth has calcified and hardened to a form called calculus it becomes difficult to remove with at-home toothbrushes, floss and mouth rinses. Specialized dental instruments safely remove the calculus to prevent dental and/or gingival diseases. We will also dedicate some time to review and practice the most effective brushing and flossing techniques to make sure you will be able to take care of your teeth when you are home. The frequency and the type of dental cleaning is assessed for each patient and dependent on that patient’s personal needs.

Dental Exams

Routine yearly check-ups

Dental exams are performed routinely to maintain your dental health at optimal levels. Each person is assessed independently and the frequency of the dental exams is formulated on the basis of individual susceptibility. Routine dental exams allow us to detect and inform you of initial small problems before a painful and costly dental problem arises.

Prosthodontics

(crowns, bridges, and removable prosthesis)

The field of prosthodontics aims to restore your teeth back to function (eating, talking, and smiling). This may include treating malfunctioning teeth with crowns or replacing missing teeth with a bridge or removable prosthesis.

Today, I use digital impressions with digital technology that has been studied and tested in the literature to provide us and the dental laboratory technician with precise information. This is to decrease your time spent at the dental office and to increase the precision, the longevity and prognosis of your treatment.

Periodontology

In your oral cavity there are hard and soft tissues. Hard tissues consisting of your tooth and the bone in the jaws that houses each tooth. The soft tissue is the gingiva or the gums that encapsulates the apical 2/3rds of the tooth. When the soft tissue diminishes or recedes, symptoms such as cold sensitivity or tooth mobility may arise, creating a compromise to your oral health. Periodontology focuses on restoring and maintaining your soft tissues.

Implantology

When a tooth is missing the least invasive way to replace it is to utilize a biocompatible structure called an implant dentale.

An implant is placed into the bone of either the maxillary and mandibular jaw. Once adequate healing has been achieved, the implant is restored with a crown for function and esthetics.

Endodontics

Inside each tooth is the dental pulp which houses soft tissues, such as blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue. The pulp provides nutrients to the tooth and allows you to feel proprioception when eating. When the dental pulp is infiltrated by bacteria or injured, it needs to be removed to save the natural tooth from further damage.

Orthodontics

Misaligned teeth can be aligned harmoniously thanks to braces or transparent intra oral trays. I treat most straightforward cases with transparent aligners but when complex movements are needed a consultation with the orthodontics specialist may be required. The office has an Orthodontic specialist with whom I collaborate when needed.

Pedodontics

From the time of birth throughout adolescence, teeth go through stages of development. It is important to periodically monitor the progression.

I instruct parents and children the best ways to take care of your teeth and gums at home and during the different stages of growth. I also introduce your child to the dental environment to create a familiar atmosphere and positive experience.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening can be performed in the comfort of your home or in the dental office.

Each treatment is effective in removing external stain, resulting in a whiter, brighter smile. Other cosmetic dental treatments include the placement of veneers or thin restorations placed on the outer layer of your tooth, modifying the color, shape and form of your teeth for an ideal and customized smile.

Orofacial Pain/ TMD

TMD

Dental pain can radiate from the tooth to the surrounding structures within the oral cavity to muscles and joints within the head and neck region. The temporomandibular joint lies between the upper maxillary jaw and the lower mandibular jaw allowing for jaw movement.

Pain or temporomandibular disorder can be felt throughout the head and neck region. Careful and thorough examinations are performed to treat and dissipate the discomfort.
